This edition consists of an arrangement of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder, arranged for soprano voice, clarinet (doubling on bass clarinet), cello, and piano by Alain Bonardi.
It also contains newly composed, brief interludes by Bonardi. In the interludes, the three instrumentalists in turn play small resonant metallic percussion instruments:
- a pair of Tibetan tingsha (small cymbals joined by strap/chain), struck together to produce a loud, long high F pitch
- a Tibetan bowl with long resonance (at least 30 seconds) as close as possible to a G pitch
- a suspended cymbal with a rather high-pitched and light timbre
- a metal brush to pass over the high pitch strings of the piano
In Interlude 1, the clarinetist plays the tingsha. In Interlude 2, the pianist plays the suspended cymbal. In Interlude 3, the cellist plays in the piano strings (with the metal brush). In Interlude 4, the pianist sounds the Tibetan bowl. -
