Key signature: no ♯/♭
Time signature: 2/2, 3/4, 4/4From the introduction: "The opening movement contains much syncopation and is almost rag-like in style. The slower second movement explores initially the chalumeau register of the clarinet in a theme that is taken up by the accompaniment whilst the soloist weaves a filigree descant. This leads straight into the third movement, which is almost bee-bop in style and shows off the jazzier side of the clarinet." Extended techniques are limited to a handful of finger bends in the third movement to bring out the jazz style.
The score has a transposed clarinet part, so it is possible to read directly.
