    From the composer:

"The clarinet is one of the most played wind instruments in Colombia, this is partly due to the large number of existing musical bands in which this is the main instrument. This instrument has also been one of the most outstanding within traditional Colombian music, with maestro Lucho Bermúdez being the greatest representative of the twentieth century.

The diversity and difficulty of the repertoire inherited from the musical practices already mentioned have led musicians to seek improving the technique and interpretation of their instrument and at the same time have promoted the creation of new proposals that integrate academic and professional training with the country’s musical tradition. In response to this situation, 30 Short Colombian Pieces for Clarinet was born, which are thirty improvisations based on some of the most representative musical rhythms of Colombia. The experience acquired by the composer over many years as a performer in different types of musical groups with different formats has been the foundation of this work.

30 Short Colombian Pieces for Clarinet has different levels of difficulty without this being a method that exclusively develops the technical skills through repetitive exercises. In fact, the most important characteristic of this work is the inclusion and development of technical aspects such as breathing, rhythm, phrasing, and staccato, among other elements of Colombian music, well known for its richness and force of expression. In this way, the etudes provide clarinetists a different option to expand their repertoire and they can be used from individual practice to recital programs."
