(PDF products will be delivered via email within one business day)This edition consists of 10 studies for clarinet with live audio delay effect. Also included in the appendix are four selected studies adapted by the composer for low clarinets.
From the composer:
"The Delaytudes are intended to open the musician’s ears to performing with a delay effect in a variety of rhythmic and stylistic contexts. As an imitation of everything we play, delay reveals our inconsistencies in tempo, intonation, technique, and dynamics. Because of this, these studies will also challenge the performer’s control over these fundamentals.
The Delaytudes are intended for musicians with all levels of experience with live effects and can be performed using effect pedals (stompboxes) or live audio processing software. For those beginning their journey in electroacoustic performance, a brief setup guide will be included with equipment recommendations! It is my hope that these studies will deepen clarinetists’ curiosity for electroacoustic music while pushing the limits of their playing."
The delay effect is achieved by using a microphone, an effects processor, and amplification. The composer offers equipment advice in the book, as well as on his website, linked here.
If the audio delay effect is new to you, then you can get started without purchasing any specialized equipment: you only need a phone/tablet, and some headphones. Check the video below for a demonstration of how to start playing with delay on clarinet using a free phone app:
