"Barbara Heller's Musical Flowers were composed in 1996–2007, initially for piano and later for selected melodic instruments (e.g. violin or flute) with piano accompaniment; they are also eminently suitable for performance by clarinet and piano. The dynamic range and sensuous flexibility of the clarinet with its wide compass of notes offers rich opportunities for musical interpretation of these delicate little pieces."
