From the composer:
"Porto Mosso was written in 2013 for the Vienna Music University's gender project Holz-Blech-Schlag (woodwind-brass-percussion). The piece mainly consists of a recurring theme that appears in a wide variety of forms. The composition was inspired by an imagined story and scenario: a derelict harbor in winter, in swirling mist - hence the title Porto Mosso: moved harbor / harbor in motion. The exploited dock hands plan uprising; the instruments take on various roles: the clarinet is the insurrection's leader who in the end tumbles off the steamship; the basset horn provides the sounds of the smaller ships; the bass clarinet represents the great steamship." -
